Cafe Coffee Day is the largest chain of coffee shops in India with close to 1600 branches. They mainly cater to the youth but have gradually widened their reach to include young professionals as well. They usually prefer to be seasonal with their marketing. So, for a winter range which comprised of Christmas-inspired warm drinks, they asked us to create special packaging.
The brief was to say winter, season of cheer, cooler temperatures, warm clothing and festivity without saying Christmas. So, I conceptualized three different themes for the packaging, purely based on the feelings that come with December.​​​​​​​
The first one was about sharing. It's what we do when we're with family or catching up with friends.
We share stories, moments, feelings and the same stories again. We share the cheer that's intrinsic to December. So, at Cafe Coffee Day, when you're chatting with your loved ones, cupping a warm, delightful drink, you share that joy of togetherness. And it only grows.

Secondly, there is always an overwhelming sense of joy as soon as December begins. It's a secure feeling that the holiday season is here and no one can take that away from us. You can almost taste it! The great food, the chatter and moments you're going to spend with your family are all around the corner. It's a familiar feeling and it kicks in with December.
And you know that it's THAT TIME OF THE YEAR.
The third one is my favourite. The winter is cold, obviously. But that's what gives value to the warmth. Being cozy with a cup of coffee, having your loved ones close, is a feeling that's intrinsic to the holiday season. People are one with the festive spirit and the mood is good.
So, as Christmas approaches, we warm up to the festivity, togetherness and the time of year itself.
